Good news, everyone!

The third of the four Futurama full-length films, entitled "Bender's Game" is coming to Futurama fans everywhere at the end of this year! This is cool; and by cool, I mean totally sweet.
Being a huge fan of the original Super Snacks, I was delighted to find that the long-awaited sequel has just been released.

As well, I was overjoyed to find references to two of my creations in the short (Linken & the Mechanical Yeti!), as well as a clever reprise of the "Three Hams" song from the Brak Show. Nice job, Myndflame. I vote yes.

Enjoy!
Safe to read: contains NO spoilers!
One of the coolest benefits of working in the entertainment field is the connections you can make after company-hopping a bit. I've only been in the industry 4 years now, but I know people all over the country, involved in many different projects. And... I'm going to be honest, one of the best side effects of this is that sometimes it translates into free stuff.

So I'm not kidding when I say that I almost peed my pants this week when the free stuff turned out to be a ticket to a screening of Ratatouille at Pixar!! I attribute my good fortune partially to the fact that I won't shut up about how much I love animation, but mostly that a certain coworker of mine (with friends that work at Pixar) is usually around to hear me (yay, Dennis!). Of course... I should also probably credit dumb luck to some extent.

Um, what's he looking at?

Either way, we headed over to Pixar on Thursday evening after work and ended up with the best seats in the Pixar theater, front row center. Okay, maybe they were the last seats available when we got into the theater but I'm standing by my opinion that they were also the best. Anyway... the movie (including the short that preceded it) was awesome. I definitely recommend it. Well, it is Pixar after all.

Afterwards, we got the tour of the upstairs area, where there was tons of Ratatouille concept art on display, along with some cool stuff from Toy Story, Finding Nemo, The Incredibles, etc. Even though at this point in time, I can't imagine leaving the game industry for anything, I can't really deny that I didn't feel a twinge of, "Wow, it would be awesome to work here," while walking around and checking out the artwork. I really had a moment in the theater as well -- I knew that I was in there with a lot of Pixar employees, and I could sense the pride they had for their finished product. It was something I really understood, having worked on something of fairly massive proportions in the past. It's the best feeling in the world to release something like that out to the public and know that millions of people are soon going to be enjoying something you had a part in making. Well, that's the idea anyway. Sometimes it happens, and sometimes it doesn't.

But in the case of Ratatouille, seems like everything worked out. So go see it!

I made sure to get this super cheesy generic Pixar shot before leaving... and I want to share my embarrassment on the internet for all to see.
